Ford has lifted the veils off the EcoSport and it looks like a Fiesta with steroids and loves the jungle. Even the interior looks much like a muscular Fiesta's. Majority of the similarities lie on the B-segment 'Fiesta' platform that the EcoSport is based.
There are 5 choices of engines and I will put it in note form for ease of information transfer.
- Much celebrated 1.0l EcoBoost
- 1.5l four-pot Ti-VCT
- 1.6l four-cylinder Flex
- 2.0l four-cylinder
- 1.5l Duratorq Diesel
The EcoSport can be had in either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive versions. The engines get a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed Powershift gearbox. AWD models' manual are 6-speed instead of 5 though. The goodies list of the EcoSport is respectable too with SYNC, Hill Launch Assist, Power Start and keyless entry embedded in the vehicle. The EcoSport will start selling in 18 months time but to reach South East Asia, expect a little longer. Still, Ford's large Asian manufacturing plant is based in Thailand so a quick release in Malaysia isn't surprising.
