Audi has revealed their most powerful Q5 called the SQ5 and decided to make an exclusive version of it. Why? Because they can. The first 50 SQ5s that will go on sale will be Exclusive versions and they're ludicrously expensive. €92,000 (RM 366,522) to be more specific. That's €33,500 (RM 133,461) more than the standard SQ5 priced at €58,500 (RM 233,060).
Audi remarked that that the SQ5 will be the first S model to utilize the diesel powerplant. And it isn't a disappointing engine, this. A twin-turbo 3.0l V6 TDI mill pushing 313 bhp and a whopping 650 Nm of torque enables the quattro system equipped SUV to get from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 250 km/h. It's all very impressive but - and there's always a but - the normal SQ5 has the same engine, the same output, the same top speed and the same sprint time. Eh? I don't get it either.
Instead of a more powerful technical spec sheet, Audi has decided to go all style over substance and equipped the Exclusive SQ5 with classier materials and special one-off add ons. There will be an Aral Blue crystal effect exterior paint finish, quad tail pipes and Xenon+ headlights laced with DRLs made available in the Exclusive edition. Inside, black Fine Nappa leather with snow white stitching is found wrapped around the steering wheel, seats and pretty much everywhere else, alcantara is used as material for headlining and is said to shimmer in snow white together with sunroof blinds and bits on the doors and natural grain ash finish is found on inlays around the vehicle. Not to be missed, loads of S badges will be plastered on the vehicle as well as inside. I know, your life seems complete with all those badges, doesn't it?
The Exclusive SQ5 may be a good upgrade and I'm sure it'll sell out before you even decide to call Audi but is it worth the massive €33,500 (RM 133,461) difference in price? You decide.
