What you see here is the next iteration of the upcoming IS, for now labelled LF-CC. As it seems, the next generation IS previewed here will be taking cues from the LF-LC concept and sharing a lot with the GS, the front fenders especially. The platform underpinnings will also be shared with the GS but will be tweaked for the smaller sized IS.
Currently, the IS is a four door family sedan as well as a quaint looking cabriolet ( with a big bum ). The LF-CC will include a coupe version and as we highly suspect, a more polished looking cabriolet. A more direct aim to the German boys, huh?
The Lexus family's new spindle grille design is nicely incorporated into the LF-CC in my opinion and the front fenders as well as the side sills show inspiration from its bigger brother - GS. The lights deserve a sentence or two of its own. Instead of an even surfaced slab of light piece, the blade shaped rear lamps exhibit protruding Vs designed onto it. The front headlights take cues from the LF-LC and interesting isn't enough to describe it. To put it simply, the lights are little pieces of art. Still, going into production may see them replaced with conventional slabs of lights like the other siblings.
Inside, blue hued screens are generously placed but change those bits in the LF-CC and you'll see a GS inspired interior with a small tweak here and there. Orange leather may be absurd for some but may be retained in F models. Who knows? As you can see, the blue couloured Lexus badges hint towards a hybrid powertrain. The LF-CC is motivated by a 2.5l four-cylinder engine together with a permanent magnet electric motor. If that's not enough, there is also a generator, high performance battery and a power split device which reallocates power from the engine, electric motor and generator according to situations and requirements through a planetary reduction gears system. Not sure what that means but stay tuned as the Paris Motor Show will reveal fully what the LF-CC is about.
